Har Zion Early Childhood Program

At Har Zion Early Childhood Center, we believe that joy is key to developing lifelong learners!  When children engage in process art experiences, they talk to each other and adults, wrestle with problems that arise, then solve those problems creatively. They are excited about new information, and often show much more sustained attention.

Children learn when they are excited and interested in a topic  When children come to us with a question we do not simply give them the answer; we respond by asking the child what they think, how they could find the answer and what they need.  Through this process, children develop confidence and independence with encouragement from our teachers, their parents and the community around us.

Koven Religious School

Our outstanding religious school provides a comprehensive Jewish education for students from kindergarten through high school. Our goal is to help our children become integral members of the Jewish community and to develop an awareness of themselves and an understanding of their Jewish heritage. Family involvement is an important component of our children’s religious foundation.  Interfaith families are welcomed and are considered a valued part of our community.

The schedule for the religious school is as follows:

Wednesdays:

4:30 PM to 6:30 PM for students in grades 2 thru 7

Sundays:

9:30 AM to 12:00 noon: students in grades K thru 7
9:30 AM to 12:00 noon: Hebrew High: 8th grade meet weekly, 9th-12th grades meet bi-weekly
8:30 AM to 9:15 AM: students with teacher recommendation for extra help or enrichment

Our cadres of madrichim (teacher assistants) are an invaluable help to our school. Madrichim are eligible to assist in the classroom on days that they don’t have class if they attend Hebrew High; 8th graders can be madrichim on Wednesdays.  In Hebrew High our teens enjoy applying classic Jewish texts to their modern lives as teenagers.

Come join us!  See Koven Religious School for more information, or contact the school principal, David Schwartz, at principal@wsthz.org or 708-366-9000.
