Holidays and Festivals
We observe all of the traditional Jewish holidays and festivals in a variety of ways.
High Holy Days

ROSH HASHANAH
We observe both days of Rosh Hashanah. In addition to adult services in the sanctuary, Camp Shana Tovah provides programs and services for children aged 1 through 7th grade.
YOM KIPPUR
Observance of the Day of Atonement begins with Kol Nidre. Yom Kippur services include Yiskor and Neilah and the blowing of the Shofar.
SUKKOT
Students and members of the congregation decorate our sukkah, and meals are served in it.
SIMCHAT TORAH
Noisy and joyous, this holiday is celebrated dancing to a Klezmer band and marching with the Sefer Torah.
Other Holidays and Festivals
HANUKKAH
This congregational celebration includes latkes, gelt, music, and candlelighting.
PURIM
We wear costumes, twirl groggers, listen to the Megillah reading eat yummy hamantaschen, and exchange bags of Mishloach Manot. A carnival with games, prizes, and the Shushan Cafe is also part of the celebration.
The Rabbi and Cantor lead a congregational seder on the second night of Passover. There are special activities for the younger children and a traditional Pesach feast. There are other services, activities and programs; click here for the schedule for 2022/5782.

YOM HA’ATZMAUT
A festive Israeli dinner and Israeli dancing sets the mood to celebrate Israel’s Independence day.
SHAVUOT
At Tikkun l’eyl Shavuot, we acknowledge with ice cream and Torah study.
SELICHOT
A dessert reception and program are followed by a late evening musical service to usher in the High Holy Days.
