Men's Club

The Men’s Club is a busy group that plans activities throughout the year that encourage connections and friendships to grow among our members. Social events include a kosher steak barbecue on the Temple patio, group outings to local sporting events including hockey and baseball games, movie outings, Bears parties, and more.

In addition, as a group, we help around the synagogue helping to raise the sukkah, setting out Sunday brunches, and upkeep of our temple cemetery. We conduct an annual fundraiser involving the distribution of Yom Hashoah candles.

A membership in the Men’s Club also includes membership in the regional and national association of Temple Men’s Clubs. These large groups also sponsor social outings and social action opportunities in addition to hosting regional and national conventions.

Mostly we try to have fun! We gather, eat and even pray together. This year promises to be even better than last year. If you are a new Temple member, there is no fee to join, for all others, the fee is a modest $30.00. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting our event.

Yom HaShoah   -   Monday, , April 20 at Sundown

Light a Yellow Candle, a Yahrzeit candle, or another other candle at sunset, in remembrance of the 6 million.

Meditation when Lighting the Yom HaShoah Yellow Candle (or whatever candle you may have)

In these memorable days, as I light this Yellow Candle, I vow never to forget the lives of the Jewish men, women, and children who are symbolized by this flame.  They were tortured and brutalized by human beings who acted like beasts; their lives were taken in cruelty.

May we be inspired to learn more about our six million brothers and sisters as individuals and as communities, to recall their memory throughout the year, so that they will not suffer a double death.

To that end, I now memorialize life a child who was denied an entire lifetime of dreams and hope. May I embody the beauty and goodness of what could have been had s/he lived.  May we recall not only the terror of their deaths, but also the splendor of their lives. May the memory of their lives inspire us to hallow our own lives and to live meaningful Jewish lives so that we may help to ensure that part of who they were shall endure always.
